Even the little things matter to God

My bestie had been searching everywhere for her beloved jumping spider. Days had gone by with no sign of her, and she was beginning to lose hope.

I asked her, “Have you prayed and asked God to help you find her?”

She said she hadn’t.

I smiled and said, “Oh honey, that’s the first thing you should do.”

So we stopped right then and prayed. We simply asked God to show us where the little spider was if she was still there.

Then we started looking.

Less than three minutes later, I noticed a big dark spot moving across the wall.

There she was.

Some people might think it’s silly to pray about something as small as a spider. But I don’t believe our God measures our prayers by size. He invites us to bring everything to Him.

Our Heavenly Father cares about the things that matter to us because He cares about us. Sometimes He answers with a miracle, sometimes with peace while we wait, and sometimes—like this day—He answers almost immediately.

Moments like these remind me that prayer isn’t just for the big emergencies. It’s for everyday life. Before we panic, before we overthink, before we try to figure everything out on our own, let’s make prayer our first response instead of our last resort.

God delights in hearing from His children.

Reflection

What is something you’ve been trying to handle on your own instead of bringing it to God? Is prayer your first response or your last resort?

Prayer

Father, thank You for caring about every detail of our lives. Help me remember that nothing is too small to bring before You. Teach me to seek You first, trust Your timing, and recognize Your hand at work in both the big miracles and the little moments. Thank You for always listening. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.” — Philippians 4:6
