When people first meet us, they always ask about our iconic name. JAFRA is a combination of our founders’ first names. We get the JA from Jan Day and the FRA from her husband Frank. We think our name perfectly captures the inclusive spirit of JAFRA, don’t you agree?

What would you do if you were passionate about beauty, but were told you weren’t glamorous enough to succeed in the industry? In 1956, Jan Day summoned her inner strength, swiped on her favorite lipstick and started a new kind of beauty company. She built a legacy, and that legacy is JAFRA!

Proud member of the Sustainable Packaging📦 Coalition, we actively explore ways to use materials that are reusable, recyclable or recycled. Our new fragrances come in cartons that are made with a minimum of 70% recycled paper. By adding How2Recycle® labels to our packaging, we’re making it easier for our packaging to be recycled.

Jafra follows European cosmetic standards but is not officially EU-certified under a specific regulatory body like COSMOS (organic certification) or the EU Ecolabel. However, because Jafra was founded in Mexico and later became part of the German-based Vorwerk Group, its products comply with the European Union Cosmetics Regulation (EC No. 1223/2009)—one of the strictest cosmetic regulations in the world.
This means Jafra products meet EU safety, ingredient, and manufacturing standards, even if they don’t carry an official EU certification seal.
