When You’re Tired of Trying to Hold It All Together
When You’re Tired of Trying to Hold It All Together
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” — Matthew 11:28
Some days I feel like I have approximately 47 tabs open in my brain, three of them are playing music, one is frozen, and I have absolutely NO idea where the sound is coming from. 😂
Life can be a lot.
There are things we’re praying about. Things we’re waiting on. Things we’re trying to fix. People we’re worried about. Plans we’re making. Responsibilities we’re carrying.
And somewhere along the way we start acting like Jesus said:
“Come to Me when you’ve finally gotten everything under control.”
Except… He didn’t.
He said come when you’re weary.
Come when you’re carrying too much.
Come when you don’t have the answers.
Come when your faith feels strong and when it feels like it’s hanging on by one tiny little thread.
I think sometimes we confuse trusting God with pretending we’re not overwhelmed.
But surrender doesn’t mean saying, “Eh, I don’t care what happens.”
Surrender is saying:
“Jesus, I care about this SO much that I keep trying to control it…and I’m giving it back to You again.”
Maybe for the 87th time today. 😬
Because apparently some of us are very talented at laying things at the feet of Jesus and then five minutes later saying, “Actually Lord, I’m just gonna grab that real quick.” 😂
Anybody? Just me?
Here’s what I’m learning: peace doesn’t always come when the situation changes. Sometimes peace comes when we finally remember Who is carrying us through it.
Jesus never promised us a life without hard days.
He promised we wouldn’t walk through them alone.
So whatever you’re carrying today—the decision, the worry, the family stuff, the finances, the future, the thing you keep replaying at 2 a.m.—you do not have to figure out the entire story tonight.
You just have to trust the One who already knows the ending.
Heart Check 💗
What are you continually handing to Jesus…and then picking right back up?
Maybe today isn’t about trying harder.
Maybe it’s about loosening your grip.
Prayer 🙏
Jesus, You know exactly what I’m carrying today. You know the things I’m worried about, the things I can’t control, and the answers I wish I already had. Help me trust You with what I cannot see. Give me peace in the waiting and remind me that I was never meant to carry everything by myself. I give it back to You today—even if I have to do it again tomorrow. Amen.
Today’s Takeaway
You don’t need to have it all together. You just need to stay close to the One who does. 🤍
